Warning you are about to encounter a big dose of purple and yellow ....
I had done some investigating prior to our vacation and hoped actually no not hoped insisted that we could do a little trip to visit the lavender fields. I really fell in love with some images and just had to see this natural beauty for myself. So we hauled the girls along and were not disappointed.
My research took us to a sleepy little village called Valensole the main street in this town is about 100 metres long has everything cafe, boulangerie, souvenir shop, and pharmacy all to be seen in town could be seen in a glance oh and everything was shut by 2pm. But what it lacked in energy was made up for with natural beauty. Along the plateau of Valensole we bore witness to the patchwork of fields blanketed in the colour purple and the fresh scent of lavender in the air... it was truly divine and magical even more lucky for us too alongside the lavender we caught fields of sunflowers. I wish to have more photos of the girls in the fields but we had to be careful, they were 100 times more bees than tourists ... you can hear the constant buzz and hum surrounding you and although they are generally harmless if you don't bother them it wasn't really a risk we were willing to take,
If you plan to go I would recommend timing it close to dusk the sky turns pink the fields light up and its simply breath taking thats what I've been told. Unfortunately for us sunsets at 10pm are a little too late and the road trip home too long I can only imagine but for now I have my own beautiful souvenirs.
