FRIDAY 20 DECEMBER 2013
Christmas is right around the corner, and it might be a little late to share this great little find but hey there is always next year. This would also make a great family Christmas gift. I believe it is an American tradition thats been a round for a while but I have only recently stumbeled across it, it's called The Elf on the Shelf.... and I hope like me you might be starting this next year.
The concept is that The elf sits somewhere in the house on your shelf for the day watching over the children at the end of the day he/she reports back to the North Pole on who has been naughty or nice. Each morning the Elf returns in a different spot to resume it's day of watching. You can purchase Elf on the Shelf through Amazon or DIRECT through the makers where you receive both an Elf of choice and a Childrens book.
There are two simple rules that every child knows when it comes to having an elf. First, an elf cannot be touched; Christmas magic is very fragile and if an elf is touched it may lose that magic and be unable to fly back to the North Pole. Second, an elf cannot speak or move while anyone in the house is awake! An elf's job is to watch and listen.
The elf generally appears at the start of the holiday season of course that is your choice entirely, But if it makes a difference in your household why not bring it out of at the start of the year.
Hopefully this little idea brings some discipline into the house but I think for adults the fun is really in being creative with the elf and finding a different spot for him/her everyday. I have added a gallery below of some of my favourites, there really are some interesting minds out there. If you run out of ideas just google images or pinterest for some inspiration, your bound to have a little chuckle.
