SATURDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2014
I was recently invited to The Nail Spa and Marquee for a day of pampering and sure did i get just that.
Both The Nail Spa and Marquee are located in the Eastern Mangroves Hotel and speak the epitome of it's surroundings - high class serenity. Fact is both the two are joined at the hip with just a doorway separating the spa form the salon so it just makes sense to get a manicure and then head straight across for a blow dry something I just experienced recently.
Upon entering The Nail Spa a very friendly team is there to warmly greet you confirming your appointment and ushering you inside to choose from it's very wide selection of polishes, they really have the latest and greatest of colours in the Essie and range (a personal favourite of mine). I chose something a little bit different from the new winter Essie collection (Bobbing for Baubles) with a hit of gold glitter (Encrusted Treasures) on one finger. The nail spa decor is really natural to the eye with its purple and teal colours and wood accents it is very clean well kept and feels very inviting. My technician was Agnes and we opted for the classic manicure with polish. She was gentle, precise and very accommodating of me changing my mind and us trying something a little different. in addition she was informative about both technique and product ... I was extremely happy with the results my manicure easily lasted 72 hours till chipping quite the record i have to admit and is even stubborn to come off now with regular remover the sign of a good quality job using premium products. I have to add that as a client you get sent away with your own files to be reused on your next visit a great way to ensure cleanliness and in an effort to recycle in these days Just a few other bonuses to add in the salon also boasts some pampering offering massage and facials and regularly have deals worth checking out as my technician Agnes advised me. They also support a lot of charities and good causes selling many little things in store from Sandals to bracelets be sure to check this on your way out they have some really neat stuff.

A hop skip and a jump away (literally) was the Marquee salon once again I was ushered into the upbeat black and orange art deco salon where the girls wore hairdresser holseter belts and definately looked the part. Its not an overly crowded salon which makes the experience more intimate and exclusive so to does the welcome drink of orange and cranberry served in a champagne flute with a orange macaroon...they had me at hello -it's the little things that do it for me. My stylist for the day was Ella I have to say I was impressed to hear her talk passionately about the use of natural products, which is what the salon boasts a really incredible range of products from Aussie Hair Guru Kevin Murphy. I had a bit of a problem area in which was sorted right away with the application of a masque and wash and we were onto a a blow-dry. It's really refreshing to tell someone what you want and get it out with question or comment. My hair is pretty flat and nothing holds but after asking for a blow dry with volume I got that a natural kick on the ends and some volume on the roots. It also managed to feel light and airy Ellam suggested using a serum on the ends and body guard hydration throughout preferable to a whole can of hairspray. I can't recommend Ella enough I felt at ease with her she is extremely warm knowledgable and passionate about her guests leaving happy, I picked up some product on my way out, once again you can purchase some unique items from this salon besides your haircare. There are some really cool extension pieces and hairbands a must is the teezer comb.

Whats great about the whole experience is the location and the convenience.... You could easily spend a relaxing day of pampering and then treat yourself to lunch at one of the many restaurants all set amongst the mangroves..... a really beautiful oasis that makes the city bustle seem a world away.
