Don't laugh but this weather got me to thinking about drinking hot chocolate ... well lets be honest there has been a cool change in fact even some rain. I am not a coffee drinker but I am quite happy to substitute it for HC any day especially in freezing Abu Dhabi ..lol. Here is a cute DIY anyone can make and really doesn't require you leaving the house just rummaging through your sock drawer.
Take a sock I think the more typical the better like an old footy one with stripes or plaid print perhaps even holiday inspired then take your scissors and cut off the sole of the sock. If you are looking for a more polished look you can sew the bottom so you don't see the ends however my glasses wouldn't allow for that and I kinda like the unkempt look. Take the sock and place it over the glass scrunching it for a sock effect and voila not only can you handle the heat but you have a snazzy looking cover... it just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.
I think this makes for a great gift idea, you could package a pair together with a sachet of hot chocolate and some marshmallows.
Personally I don't like my hot chocolate too rich and after drinking countless of the milk variety I decided to try a take on White chocolate.... ahhh even better. I have never made homemade chocolate so was looking for something simple here is the best recipe I came across I think if you like the taste of a particular chocolate then use it, my favourite by far is Lindt White Chocolate. It's such an easy recipe I decided with the time I saved to toast some marshmallows and boy does that make the difference too, you must do this.
All in all I was in a cozy chocolate induced coma last night.
- 340 grams semisweet, dark, milk, white chocolate
- 8 cups milk This recipe can be reduced by half or a quarter depending on how much you want to make
1. Combine the chocolate and milk in a heavy saucepan. Place over medium heat until bubbles form, reduce the heat slightly, and simmer until the chocolate melts, whisking constantly.
2. Before serving, raise the heat until the chocolate just boils, still whisking. Enjoy.
