So I don’t know about you but I am getting a bit sick of buying herbs every time I go to the market. I thought to give growing them a chance … now I must admit I am not the best at keeping plants alive but I am willing to give it a go. Ohh did I mention it’s also a cute way to display them on your kitchen counter top. And to be perfectly honest the CUTE factor is probably the main motivation behind this little project.
`For this project there are only a few requirements and if you have been following me you’ll know I am obsessed with the glass jar. No less in this blog post. All you’ll need is:
Glass jars of various sizes, kitchen twine, your favourite legal herbs ( I am constantly using Basil, Thyme and Parsley), super Glue, soil and a small chalkboard is optional if you want to take it to next level go on say it ….cute. Of course if you also have a small tree trunk cutoff lying around that would take it over the top, just saying.
This has to be one of the simplest DIY so follow these instructions very careful and pay attention it could get tricky.
1. Glue one end of the kitchen twine to the back of your jar preferably under the lip and start wrapping it round glueing every so often to keep the twine from unravelling, Once you reach a desired length mine was about a third of the glass cut the twine and glue at the back.
2. I used already potted herbs and they only had a small amount of soil so if this is the case for you spoon in some more soil until you are happy with the height.
3. Place the herbs into the glass jar and pack in more soil around the sides and on top if required. Voila
