SATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER 2014
Conceptually as an expat living away from home I crave anything aussie so when I heard about TOM & SERG I was keen to try it out. I mean nothing screams home more than a corrugated thunder-box (without red backs) and seeing a classic pavlova on the menu that tastes as damm good as it looks. Tom and Serg is an understated cool cafe with an urban industrial feel and most importantly tasty eats and punchy coffees. Situated in Al Quoz Dubai and filling a void for cafe culture in the middle east.
THE MENU : relatively healthy eats but far from boring which is a refreshing change. For a dose of naughty and nice I went for the Satay Chicken with coconut rice and sweet potato crisps washed down with a salted caramel milkshake. Another favourite The Tom and Serg Burger quirky presentation tasty sauce light buns and moorish aoili But a must is the pavlova order two like I did one to eat in house and one to go ... they are that good !!!!
THE DIGS: 2 level open warehouse vibe with exposed pipes caged lightbulbs and concrete floors. Designated kids corner and upper level library. Comfy leather couches booth bench or table styled seating. Not to go un-noticed a few of my favourite things : mason jars, stripey straws and chalkboard art eekkk!
LOCATION AND PRICE: Off Sheikh Zayed Road just passed Ace hardware and tucked around the corner. A tasty pm plate will cost you on average 50-60DHS or you can sit down for a drink main and dessert for just over 100DHS which is great value.
Hip trendy and effortlessly cool a must to try
