TUESDAY 10 FEBRUARY 2015
I know Valentines is debatable to some but I couldn't pass up the holiday to play around with some flowers and craft up something. For me I don't mind the holiday we do nothing over the top at least dinner or a movie in these busy times a day to stop and remind ourselves to spend time together is not a bad thing after all. I love the idea that no-one misses out and no-one should so here is something you can gift to anyone. These were sent to Annabel's nursery teachers, you can gift them to girlfriends family members etc.
You can craft up these flower cones to anyone not necessarily for the 14th and you don't need to spend a fortune on flowers - I love some of the smaller bunches you find in supermarkets or farmers markets a bit more rustic. Putting a little homemade touch makes gifting a little more special. So lets do it !!!
Here's what you'll need :
- Beautiful Blooms ( a mix of big buds and fillers)
- A big saucepan lid
- Lace Paper doilies
- Sticky tape
- Bakers twine/Ribbon
1. Trace a circle on brown paper using a large saucepan lid the bigger the better I say 2. Cut the circle, then make a radius cut -cutting a line anywhere from the arc of the circle directly to the middle (halfway)
3. Twist both ends opposite directions until they meet and form a cone shape you can keep twisting the more you do the deeper the cone. 4. For more polished look cut the uneven ends around the top of the cone and then using sticky tape, tape together the joins so the paper won't move or unfold.
5. Use the same radius cutting technique on the paper doily 6. Wrap around the base of the existing cone and voila
