We've been out of the Brunch scene for quite some time so it was actually good to get back into it oh and the bubbles. It seems they are popping up in every hotel these days and offering something a little quirky and different in a bid to standout from each other. In leu of this I have highlighted two one I have experienced Rhodes 44 at St Regis Corniche and one I am dying to try out Urban Picnic Vida Hotel both have their own unique qualities.... .

We were lucky to have great friends to experience this one with and there are so many reasons to go, I don't know where to start. Let's start by calling it the lazy brunch ... unlike other big buffet styles Rhodes 44 is an al a carte brunch so really all the food is bought to you in intervals and believe me there is no shortage whatsoever so come hungry like really hungry. The courses are based on the chefs favourite British dishes and are served family style to share. With everything from haddock, potato stew to seafood, risotto, corn beef, oysters, peas & eggs, rotisserie chicken, to lamb cutlets and beef. Desert is definitely the deal breaker for me so I was more than ecstatic to discover the DIY eaton mess table and ice cream trolley, but what got me most impressed was the no skimping policy on beverage top ups. I would say I had three drinks on the go a PIMMS, champagne, and blini and was still given a up top up thats what I call service.

This is a laid back lunch, the vibe is not party, but it is sophisticated and lively in addition to all the wonderful food and drink there is a children's area staff are on hand to entertain with kids food included.

Vida's Urban Picnic concept is one of the most unique I've yet to come across. In a nutshell you grab yourself a basket and blanket provided by the restaurant and choose from their rustic buffet range of kitsch packaged picnic foods including crunchy salads, cheeses fresh fruits and scones complete with decent vinos and beverages. You can either choose to eat in a picnic cabana pool side with bean bags and dangle your feet or inside the restaurant on grass tabletops. In addition wood fired pizzas and a selection of meats on skewers make up their main course section which is brought to your table or cabana to be cooked on your personal grill.

What an great way to enjoy a picnic without the messy clean up or ants. My only advice since this is a relatively new brunch it is pretty popular on the one occasion we decided to book we were put on the wait list and unfortunate to get in so I suggest you call well in advance.
